"His mildly sprained left ankle healed enough, New Orleans Hornets rookie power forward Anthony Davis said Wednesday he would play against the San Antonio Spurs.

Hornets Coach Monty Williams also said Davis was well enough to play.

"Yeah, I'm playing; no doubt," Davis said following the team's morning shoot-around in the AT&T Center. "It's fine. I'll just put some extra tape on it. It didn't (swell). And that's the good thing about it. It was a surprise with the way it hurt. I'll be fine and be ready to go tonight."

Davis injured the ankle late in the second quarter of Monday's win over the Sacramento Kings in New Orleans Arena when he stepped on an official's foot. He missed 11 games earlier this season with a stress reaction - the precursor to a stress fracture - in the left ankle. He first rolled the ankle two days after the June NBA Draft in his first Hornets workout.

Williams said Wednesday he was satisfied by Davis's actions and performance in Tuesday's practice and the shoot-around.

"He'll play tonight," Williams said. "He looked pretty good (Tuesday) and had no ill-effects this morning. It looks like he'll be a go tonight."
